Plus 4pm - John Barker, author of Bending the Bars: Prison Stories of an Angry Brigade Member, will be reading from his recently published novel “Futures” .
"It's great. Rollicking, uncompromising stuff. The prose grabs you by the throat and squeezes. The characters are by turns reckless, ambitious, vulnerable and weak. The story is set in the past but couldn't be more relevant. Futures is funny, frightening and very dark." - Ronan Bennett

John will then host a discussion of the nature and possibilities of ‘political’ fiction, encompassing the very nature of ‘the political’; varieties of such fictional work, but also an estimate of what such fiction can do that other writing, whether reportage, theory, history or philosophy cannot do.
