Monday Meetings 

Every Monday at 6pm volunteers working at the Star and Shadow cinema meet to talk about the organisation of the cinema. Any members of the public or volunteers are welcome to attend and participate. There is no pre-requisite to your attendace so if you feel like it, please do come along!

These meetings are the primary way for the cinema to discuss and organise everything that is happening at the venue (volunteers, building work, events...). They are an essential opportunity for volunteers to meet all together and to ensure that the cinema runs smoothly, and generally last for about 2 hours (we try to keep the time down but it is hard!). Decisions are taken by consensus with the people who are present at the time.

Programming

Every two weeks our meetings have a "programming" focus, which means that anybody who wants to propose events for the cinema or who wants to hire the cinema is welcome to discuss their ideas with the volunteers.

Attending programming meetings is the easiest way for external people to come and propose their ideas, and for us to explain how things could happen. We therefore strongly encourage external people who want to propose events to come to these meetings to talk about it, as opposed to communicating with the cinema by email or by phone, which is more complicated for us.

Publicity

This week the meeting will also have a publicity focus, which means that we will talk about issues around the promotion of the cinema. We need more people doing promotion work so if you are interested in doing that, come along or let us know!

Themes

The theme of the meeting changes every week: on the 1st and 3rd Mondays of the month, we have a general meetings; on the 2nd Monday of the month we have a programming meeting; and on the 4th Monday of the month we have another programming meeting but this time with a publicity focus.
