This atmospheric new film by Adrien Lecouturier is set on the high Amazonian plateaus of Venezuela, amongst the gold and diamond mines. Fiebres follows the journey of Pierre, a Franco-Venezuelan doctor and his assistants, as they travel from camp to camp through the noise-filled and claustrophobic forest, to treat the miners for an unnamed fever. Pierre’s father was also a gold digger, and this inseparable link ties him to his patients as he diagnoses them. The fever and the gold mining both have a quiet mystical quality, which eventually pulls them underground. Regional Premiere. 2013.
