In the second of our special evenings with artist filmmakers, we are thrilled to host John Smith, the wry avant-garde film-maker that makes you smile and then frown. In the second of our special evenings with artist filmmakers, we are thrilled to host John Smith, the wry avant-garde film-maker that makes you smile and then frown. An early member of the London Film Co-op, he has been making films on 16mm and video since 1972. He will be taking and presenting works from his early period, the brilliant "Girl Chewing Gum" and visual puns like "Association" right through to his current hand-held video pieces like "Worst Case Scenario" and "Home Suite" which are personal reactions to things of local significance and / or global importance. He is in the great tradition of comic artists touching at the absurdity, hypocracy, unfairness and complexity of the modern world we live in.
