The Legendary Pink Dots
The Legendary Pink Dots formed in August 1980 and, although distinctly underground, they have been musically influential over the years. The band name was derived from pink dots of nail varnish on the piano in their squat, where founding members Edward and April lived. The band has as its focal point vocalist Edward Ka-Spel, who is, along with Phil “The Silverman” Knight, one of the original remaining members of the band. In the mid eighties the band resettled in the Netherlands, though they have recently located back to London.
Their music is totally unique and it is difficult to categorise, but comparisons may be drawn with bands like Can and early Pink Floyd. Their sound has been described as an amalgamation of psychedelic rock, industrial, synth-pop and avant-garde. They have released over 60 records, have a large cult following and continuously tour the world.
Members of the band have also collaborated with Nurse With Wound, The Dresden Dolls, Jarboe, HNAS, Jim O’Rourke, Skinny Puppy’s cEvin Key, forming The Tear Garden. Key also appears on the 1994 album 9 Lives to Wonder.

Orbit Service is the musical project of Colorado-based producer/engineer Randall Frazier (helmet room, Bela Karoli, Kal Cahoone) produced in collaboration with Kim G. Hansen (Antenne), Dennis Swanson (Day Dissolved Dream) and Kirill Nikolai (Still Light). Orbit Service’s mystical leanings steer them close to the likes of Sol Invictus, but OS zigs where neo folk zags, giving them a sonic momentum that leads to a much outer part of outer space. This beautifully crafted set smells like moist earth covered in leaves. Orbit Service’s mining of ever deeper moods has yielded a subtle treasure that glows like distant sun.
