Northern Lights Film Festival (20-28 March) - DIY Film Review

-
Sat 20 March 2010 // 18:00 / Cinema

Throughout the Northern Lights Film Festival we will be encouraging people to put pen to paper, fingers to keyboard and write their own film articles and reviews - to create their own film magazine.

What is this project about?

This project is about creating the Northern Lights Film Festival zine - written by the people attending the festival.

Who can write for the zine?

Anybody can write.

We want to hear from as many people as possible.

The point is not whether you think you are a fantastic writer or not, all that matters is that you have something to say about film. We will be encouraging participation from as many different people as possible in order to get a broad spectrum of opinion.

Where will the articles be read?

The articles will be published in the Northern Lights Film Festival zine, but also online on the Northern Lights Film Festival webiste.

The best articles will be selected to be published in the local newspaper the Journal.

What can people write about?

People can write anything that is related to film, and to the Northern Lights Film Festival.

Link to the festival programme here

This can include:

- film reviews of any film shown at the festival

- articles: biography of a director whose film is being shown, trends in cinema that is noticeable at the festival, music used in a film shown at the festival, reactions of the audience during a film, cinema auditaurium,

- interviews with: director/actor in a film (if you manage to catch them!), members of the audience, programmers of the festival (names available on request!), particular members of the audience and comparing their reactions, University lecturers who would have some knowledge about a film (a scientist for a sci-fi film for example), anybody you can think of.

Be creative - anything film-related is good.

Will Illustartions be accepted?

Illustrations are encouraged: drawings of the people in the audience, of cinema seats, of cinema tickets, of a ticket usher, of an actor, of pop-corn, of the cinema screen - any illustration is good.

How can people submit reviews?

People throughout the festival will be able to drop off reviews (regardless of having attended the Little White Lies talk or not)

- by hand to the festival cinema venues.

- via email to bambinokino@gmail.com

Will there be a selection process for the Northern Film Festival zine?

The film fanzine produced at the end of the festival will contain an entry by everyone who has submitted credited pieces throughout NLFF.

When will the film fanzine be put together?

They will be put together throughout a fanzine production afternoon on Sunday 28th at the Star and Shadow Cinema running from 12 - 5pm.

Who is doing this and how to get in touch with them?

This project is a collaboration between Northern Lights Film Festival, and Kino Bambino, a monthly film zine based in Newcastle.

If you have any questions, send an email to bambinokino@gmail.com
