CHILDREN OF GODARD: an evening with the influenced and influences of Vic Godard

Les Quatre Cents Coups (The 400 Blows) (director Francois Truffaut, 1959, 99 mins, 35mm, cert 12)

the film that launched the French New Wave, influenced the kitchen sinks of early 60s British drama and inspired one Richard Hell of a haircut, Truffaut’s portrait of disaffected youth is just as effective today as it ever was fifty years ago. Vic Godard’s favourite film of all time; enjoy all quatre cents of those coups in mmind blowing 35mm.

Vic Godard & Subway Sect (with Carl Heslop on SAS organ)

unofficial godfather of every genre worth remembering over the last 30 years - from 1976 punk, C-86 independent and 1990s Brit Pop - the godlike genius of Vic Godard keeps moving with new album ‘We Come As Aliens’ on Overground. Tonight, Vic brings the Subway Sect to the suburbs with the help of the Star and Shadow’s little stick of Blackpool Rock, Carl Heslop.

Sexual Objects

brief SAS commando style appearance from Disco Davy and his Sex-O-Jects. After last year’s acclaimed ‘Cucumber’ album and performance at the SAS, all eyes and ears are on their second coming. Like the big word itself, the Sexual Objects just get better the more and more you hear/do them.

Spectorbullets

completing the third angle of the triangle, Russell Burn turns a few familiar musical tricks from former bands Fire Engines and Win and cements them together with a few new bricks from NYC-based Swedish singer/songwriter Gustaf Heden to construct Spectorbullets’ own unique wall of sound.
