TUSK Festival returns to Newcastle upon Tyne this October with  another infernal line-up of unclassifiable international music.

Across 3  days in the city’s best-loved underground music venue, TUSK Festival  again delivers a lethal musical cocktail, featuring countless coups and  firsts and including the return of Keiji Haino’s legendary Fushitsusha,  classic Virginian drone voyagers Pelt, the Dead C’s Michael Morley in  his solo Gate guise, the delirious alt-techno of Hieroglyphic Being,  Graham Lambkin & Jason Lescalleet divining magic in the mundane,  the organic scree of Hild Sofie Taord and crunched dub and sweat  from NHK'Koyxe.

12.10pm  PELT & PART WILD HORSES MANE ON BOTH SIDES

Gamelan collaboration by two bands divided by an ocean but united by Indonesian instruments.

1pm  The Wire talks with: Graham Lambkin

Graham Lambkin is an artist, field recordist, musician, and chronicler of the English suburban pastoral. In the early 1990s Lambkin was a founder member of Kent group The Shadow Ring, whose stark and defiantly amateurish records found a home from home on US label Siltbreeze. Since then his own recordings and those of his Kye record label have traced bold connections between DIY praxis and avant garde aesthetics. Now based in the US, he joins Derek Walmsley for a rare discussion on his work. Derek Walmsley is Deputy Editor of The Wire.

Summoning forces of detachment, disembodied otherness and the irresistible charm of the mundane.
