>> COURSE CONTENT

Organising is the work of bringing people together to take action around their common concerns and overcome social injustice. Community Organisers reach out and listen, connect and motivate people to build their collective power.

The one day training course introduces you to the core foundations of community organising – genuine listening, an analysis of power in community and how to build it, and an exploration of how to organise and motivate people to take effective action together to address common concerns.

The workshop is split into two halves. The morning covers the fundamental concepts of organising, including power, organisation, strategy, tactics and leadership.

The second half covers the practical, fundamental skills of organising, including 1-2-1 meetings and developing strategy, as well as setting personal goals in order to take learning forward.

>> LEARNING OUTCOMES
- To understand the importance of listening to build relationships
- To begin to explore power and power dynamics in communities
- To appreciate how to motivate people to take action
- To plan your next steps and actions in community organising

This training is free. It is run by ACORN and supported by Community Organisers.

This course is approved as quality training provision by Certa and as Professional Development by CPD.
