Shirley Clarke was one of the great independent voices of US cinema and in her final film offers a frenetic portrait of the free jazz pioneer Ornette Coleman. Defying traditional documentary formats, the film intercuts excerpts from performances, interviews, and reenactments of Coleman's childhood in a way that parallels the musical style of its subject. Included are interviews with and original footage of William S. Burroughs, Buckminster Fuller, Robert Palmer, Yoko Ono, John Rockwell, Don Cherry and Denardo Coleman.
Please note that this film contains rapid editing and strobing effects.
