After working with local Gypsy, Roma and Irish Travellers children in the North East, for many years, Gateshead Ethnic Minority and Traveller Achievement Service made a series of short films about their life styles-Appleby Fair, Boxing, Horses, A young Slovak Roma musician, Irish Piping and an animation about a haunted trailer, etc. Joe Crane who played the Irish pipes and talks about Johnny Doran the Traveller Piper in one film, was involved in the making and will be there to talk about the project and how the children themselves filmed much of it. Lottery funding enabled Media 4 to give the films a professional editing."

The films and stories were made to promote cultural awareness of Traveller's lives in Brandling Primary,St. Alban's RC Primary, Kingsmeadow Comprehensive School in Gateshead with the Traveller Education Teachers Dot Bell-Singer, Christine Whalton, Joe Crane and Nursery Nurse Mandy Fenwick of the Gateshead Ethnic Minority and Traveller Achievement Service and produced by the Digital Voice for Communities funded by Awards for All, Natt E-Lamp Project and the Baker Charitable Trust.
