'Potemkin' will be S!nk's fifth show at the Star and Shadow.   Each film tracked has been an extraordinary sensory experience, not the least of which is the physicality of Sink's playing.  Their music doesn't so much accompany or play off what's on screen, more like the music washes through the images colouring our response to what we are seeing, creating moments wondrous fusion.  'Nanook of the North' 'Nosferatu' 'Prince Achmed'  L'Age d'Or' - all silents that have undergone the magic of S!nk transformation and now Battleship Potemkin' - S!nk'll float the boat.

S!nk write - To keep its revolutionary flame licking Sergei Eisenstein thought a new score should be made for 'Potemkin' every 20 years.  Shostakovich The Pet Shop Boys and now S!nk join the roll of honour.  The opening title card of the film describes how an idea can spread, gather force until its revolutionary power rips reality apart.  With piano voice sax strings electric guitar homemade tuned percussion and a soup tureen played with a felt covered hammer, our composed/impro score intends to fuse with Eisenstein's imagery and make the break with reality.
