Concentrated in the fold of one family Leigh opens out the emotional experience of race roots and identity.  Leigh’s script led by an ensemble of his regular actors focuses on a dysfunctional family thrown into further turmoil by the appearance of Hortense, a Black optometrist put up for adoption at birth, who has decided to trace her birth mother.  Great performances and Leigh’s deft  direction of his own script make for a comedy drama of heightened humour and emotional intensity.
