At the edge of adulthood and alone in her attic bedroom, teenager Casey becomes immersed in an online role playing horror game known as the “World’s Fair Challenge.” As she documents herself carrying out the ritual for strangers online, the boundaries between performance, fantasy and reality begin to blur.

Blending internet folklore, analogue horror aesthetics and coming of age drama, WE’RE ALL GOING TO THE WORLD’S FAIR is a haunting and deeply contemporary exploration of loneliness, identity and online existence. From the director of I Saw the TV Glow, Jane Schoenbrun’s debut feature captures the strange intimacy of internet culture with an unsettling atmosphere that lingers long after the film ends.
